Search ongoing for possible drowning victim

COPPER CANYON – The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office (SBCSO) is investigating a possible drowning at Lake Havasu over the weekend. Personnel were dispatched about 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 17 to a report that a man did not resurface after disappearing under the water near Copper Canyon.

Darkness ended diving operations in the search for Simon Daniel, 18. Next day diving efforts resulted in location and recovery of the body of the teenager from Pinole, California at about 8:54 a.m. on May 18.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact SBCSO Corporal Brandon Abell at 760-326-9200. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call the We-Tip Hotline at 1-800-782-7463.
