School crossing guard struck by vehicle in Bullhead

BULLHEAD CITY – The Bullhead City Police Department responded to a vehicle verses pedestrian collision outside a local school this morning where a school crossing guard was hit by a pickup truck.
At approximately 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 7, emergency crews were called to the 600 block of Marina Boulevard. A 48-year-old Bullhead City woman was struck by a vehicle while she was conducting traffic control to assist students from Mohave Accelerated Learning Center in safely crossing the roadway before school.

A 16-year-old male driving a red Ford pickup truck reported that he did not see the crossing guard. The female victim was struck at an estimated speed of about 30 mph. She was transported by ambulance to Western Arizona Regional Medical Center and later flown to Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, NV, for further treatment.

The juvenile male driver remained on scene and was cited and released for failure to control speed to avoid a collision and no current vehicle registration.
The collision remains under investigation.
