River Fund supports community needs during emergency

BHHS Legacy Foundation donates $40,000

BULLHEAD CITY – The BHHS Legacy Foundation has awarded the River Fund, Inc $40,000 to assist the River Fund in supporting individuals and agencies in our local communities during the COVID-19 Pandemic. The BHHS Legacy Foundation is partnering with the City of Bullhead City and the River Fund to assess needs and provide services to our local residents.

The BHHS Legacy Foundation is challenging the community to provide the River Fund a $1 for $1 match to raise money to help local families, vulnerable senior citizens and unemployed workers who are struggling at this time. Donations should be made directly to the River Fund.

“We have an amazing team of people working behind the scenes and this effort did not start yesterday.  BHHS Legacy Foundation and the City of Bullhead City are in partnership with River Fund, Inc., our local non-profit agency whose motto is “Locals Helping Locals,” have already put into place a helpline to deal with immediate and emergency needs. At the same time, they are doing a tremendous and comprehensive job designing a plan for dealing with our community’s long-term needs. BHHS Legacy Foundation is pleased to provide funding for this vitally important effort and looks forward to the community’s response for matching funds,” BHHS Legacy Foundation Vice President of Program Development Nancy Mongeau said.

All requests for services, donations and referrals will be directed through the River Fund. The River Fund has been enlisted as the primary agency to lead the City’s emergency response for social services to help organize the community’s response to COVID-19. A helpline has been set up to assist the needs of our community during this time of uncertainty at (928) 763-0122. The call center will be handling requests from individuals and families facing hardships and coordinating these through community social services groups. The hotline is also for those who would like to donate items such as money, food, water, toilet paper, diapers and baby formula. Individuals can also call with their desire to volunteer.

“We always rise up together as a community in times of need,” City Manager Toby Cotter said. “Now, more than ever, Mayor Brady, along with the City Council, see the many needs in the community. We are not going to wait for the federal stimulus or unemployment checks to kick in. While those are greatly needed at this time, we need our entire community to merge together to help those families and vulnerable seniors in need. Give if you can. Donate if you can. But most importantly, if you need help, please call.”

If anyone would like to donate to the River Fund, please go to www.RiverFundInc.com via PayPal. Checks can be mailed to the River Fund, 1343 Hancock Road, Bullhead City, AZ 86442.
