Public invited to open house for Swanson Avenue Reconstruction Project

LAKE HAVASU CITY – The public is invited to an open house to discuss the upcoming Swanson Avenue Reconstruction Project on Wednesday, March 20, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Aquatic Center, located at 100 Park Avenue. The open house gives residents, businesses and property owners an opportunity to meet City, ADOT and Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) staff and get more information regarding this very important project.

The Swanson Avenue Reconstruction Project improves the area between the intersections of Acoma Boulevard and Smoketree Avenue. Improvements include the complete reconstruction of the existing road to allow for a multi-use path on the south side and a new bike lane on the north side of the roadway. This change will also eliminate the ability for parallel parking along this corridor. These changes are supported by several studies completed over many years with extensive public outreach and include the Bicycle and Pedestrian Implementation Plan (2018), Vision 20/20 Revitalization Plan (2015), PARA Study (2012) and the R/UDAT Report (2007).

The project is funded primarily with Federal-aid funds (94.3%) and managed by ADOT. The project is anticipated to take approximately four months to complete, once construction begins in early April.

For more information, please contact Lake Havasu City Project Manager, Jeff Herb, at 928-680-5474.
