KINGMAN, Ariz. – A Kingman man has apologized for wrestling and fighting with three members of the Kingman Fire Department who came to his aid as he had passed out in the parking lot of a local auto dealership two months ago. Caleb Feil, 26, addressed the court during a change of plea and sentencing hearing conducted Sept. 23.
Defense attorney Greg Pridham told Judge Ryan Esplin that his client was highly intoxicated and had no animosity toward the public safety personnel. Deputy Mohave County Attorney James Gilmore said that Feil, when awakened, pushed the EMT firefighter before he was combative with all three firefighters, none of whom was injured.
Feil told Judge Esplin he was drunk and confused and doesn’t remember much from the incident.
“I would like to apologize to the firefighters, police, the community and the court,” he said. “I’ve had a hard time with my brother’s death last year. I should have been getting counseling rather than turning to alcohol.”
The plea agreement convicts Feil of three counts reduced to attempted aggravated assault of first responders.
“I respect law enforcement,” Feil said. “I’m really sorry from the bottom of my heart.”
Esplin sentenced Feil to 23 days jail, crediting him with 23 days already served. He placed Feil on probation for a year and ordered him to undergo counseling for alcohol abuse.
