Pine Lake FD announces Preparedness Day

KINGMAN – Pine Lake Fire Department will be hosting a Wildfire Community Preparedness Day on Saturday, May 4 beginning at 8:30 a.m. All Pine Lake residents and weekenders are invited to a trip of the mountain to follow the alternate evacuation route up Flag Mine and down Antelope Wash. The outing will leave from the top of the neighborhood on Flag Mine Road at the turn off to the Brown water tank at 8:30 a.m. and end at the TA trucks stop on I-40 and Blake Ranch Road for lunch.

Should residents have to evacuate by this route, it will be good to know what the route is like firsthand without the smoke and panic of a mandatory evacuation. A 4×4 or ATV is required. The route is not suitable for two-wheel drive cars. Participants are asked to bring their Family Radio Service (FRS) walkie talkie set the channel 3 if they have one.

At a careful pace, the trip takes about 75 minutes to reach I-40. Participants should expect rutted road surfaces, occasional large rocks, and one deep cross drainage.  For further information contact the Pine Lake Fire Department at 928-757-3570.
