Pilot program to invest locally proving successful

LAKE HAVASU CITY – A pilot project to provide an environment to stimulate business development has proved successful in Lake Havasu City, according to Partnership for Economic Development Director (PED) Chairman Mike Patterson. The commerce incubation initiative is moving forward with construction of a “Nomadic” project facility at 2119 McCulloch Boulevard.

“The building will be about 9,000 sq. ft., much larger than our existing space,” Patterson said, while helping present the PED annual report during the Jan. 12 Lake Havasu City Council meeting. He said a year-long construction campaign should be underway by March, if not sooner.

“It’s important that we invest locally in entrepreneurs. We can ensure growth in the business community by doing so,” Patterson said. “It also provides an opportunity for local talent to stay here…We want to provide those opportunities, and this is a great way to do that.”

PED Director James Gray detailed some local success stories. He said T & T enterprise is fully engaged at its $2.5-million, 40,000 sq. ft. distribution center at 5601 Highway 95.

Gray said Ryan Busnardo will be adding to his 45-member workforce at Premier Manufacturing, located in the old K-Mart building on McCulloch Boulevard. The company produces “Nugmasher” machines used to extract oils from plants, common in the cannabis industry.

Busnardo intends to grow to 263 employees over a five-year period.

“This is the largest concentration of jobs and investment in our community in quite some time,” Gray said.
