Pets perish in Havasu fire

LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. – Fires on residential properties kept Lake Havasu City firefighters busy in the early morning hours of July 9. Crews first responded at 12:25 a.m. to an incident in the 1800 block of Combat Drive.

The Fire Department reported the fire was contained to a garage and brought under control within 10 minutes.

Fire Department personnel turned out at 2:35 a.m. for a second fire reported in the 2600 block of Jody Drive. The home sustained damage and the fire was controlled within 17 minutes of arrival.

News releases indicated that there were no preliminary determinations regarding the cause of either fire. No people were injured, though a cat and two dogs died in the second fire.
