Paving scheduled Tuesday for the Andy Devine Avenue project in downtown Kingman

KINGMAN – The Arizona Department of Transportation along with the City of Kingman advises motorists to plan for the following road restrictions from Andy Devine Avenue to 1st Street in downtown Kingman: Andy Devine Avenue at Route 66 to 1st Street and Beale Street to Andy Devine Avenue will be closed from midnight through 6 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27.

Detours will be in place from 2nd Street to Beale Street and from 2nd Street to East Beale Street.  On-site flaggers will move drivers through the work zone from 6 a.m. through noon on Andy Devine Avenue from the Powerhouse Visitor’s Center through 1st Street. The speed limit through the work zone is 25 mph. Drivers should be prepared to slow down and stop when approaching and driving through the work zone.  Business access will be maintained.

The restrictions are needed for crews to safely pave the roadway. The project is expected to be completed in June 2025.  This is a city of Kingman project being administered by ADOT.  The project includes:

  • Removing the existing jog at the intersection of Andy Devine Avenue and 1st Street by closing the existing driveway for the Arizona Route 66 Museum and constructing a new concrete driveway for the museum that aligns with 1st Street
  • Constructing new median, sidewalk, and curb and gutter at the location of the existing driveway.
  • Replacing existing stop signs with new LED solar-powered flashing stop signs at four intersections and other related work.
