Passport scams, fee misrepresentation reported

MOHAVE COUNTY – The Superior Clerk’s Office has seen an influx of customers seeking to have their passport application executed by a passport agent at the front counter, under the impression they have already paid their passport application fees.

Upon looking into the various websites used for these services, it has been determined that the fees these customers are paying to the outside agencies are only paying for the forms to be filled out by that agency.

Christina Spurlock, Clerk of the Superior Court wants to remind the public that the most reputable online source for passport information and forms is Travel.State.Gov and passport application fees must be paid to the US Department of State.

The Clerk’s Office has both new applications and renewal forms available for passports, as well as all other necessary additional forms for no cost. Customers do not need to make an appointment, and one of the multiple certified acceptance agents in the office will review all new passport applications for completeness and accuracy.  The fee for each passport execution and acceptance is $35.00.

The Clerk’s Office does not mail out Renewal Applications. However, it is still able to review them, for no cost, prior to customers sending them out themselves.
