Parents arrested for endangerment

BULLHEAD CITY – Parents high on drugs were arrested when discovered asleep in a vehicle with their young children in Bullhead City. Police spokeswoman Emily Fromelt said officers responded to a to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked at a business in the 2300 block of Miracle Mile at 10:40 p.m. on Sept. 26.

“The adults in the vehicle were unresponsive due to being under the influence of drugs,” Fromelt said. “Officers had to yell and bang on the vehicle windows to wake up the parents.”

Fromelt said three children (ages three, six and six years old) were sleeping in the back seat. She said they had easy access to drugs believed to be cocaine and drug paraphernalia located in the vehicle.

Shawn Martin, 49, and Melisa Richman, 32, were arrested and jailed for child abuse, child neglect, possession of narcotic drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. Their kids were placed in the custody and care of the Department of Child Safety.
