Parenti receives maximum punishment of six years

Stacy Parenti

It didn’t go well for a repeat drug offender from Lake Havasu City who knew she was going to the Arizona Department of Corrections when she attended her July 30 sentencing hearing in Kingman. Terms of the plea agreement previously entered for Stacy Parenti, 59, required the Court to impose a 3.5 or 6-year prison punishment.

Parenti shook her head in disbelief as Mohave County Superior Court Judge Rick Lambert opted for six years when he decided to run sentences for different cases consecutive rather than concurrent.

“I am just a little bitter,” Parenti told judge Lambert. “I’m just really sorry all this stuff happened.”

The Parenti case history traces back to 2015 when she was placed on probation after reaching a plea deal for a conviction associated with seizure of 33 grams of methamphetamine at 100 Retail Center Rd. Defense attorney Melissa Barry said Parenti did very well on probation for about 3.5 years until family turmoil led to a relapse for the addict who began regularly using drugs again.

Three urinalysis failures in December last year prompted a search that resulted in the seizure of almost five grams of methamphetamine from the residence where Parenti was staying on Chicasaw Drive.

Judge Lambert read excerpts and cited a pre sentence investigation report to explain why he imposed the longer prison term for Parenti. The judge said Parenti indicated at the time of her arrest last year that she would not seek treatment or undergo counseling and that she would continue using meth because of her addiction issues.

Lambert said Parenti’s comments, including her claim that she was hurting no one but herself with her ongoing drug use, reflected a poor attitude undeserving of the lesser punishment option.
