Bermuda water looking for 24% rate increase for south BHC residents

BULLHEAD CITY – The Bullhead City Council has approved municipal intervention in the Bermuda Water company rate case pending before the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) in Phoenix. The city will seek standing in the matter scheduled for formal hearing early next year. “They have proposed a 24% increase for south Bullhead City residents and those outside the city limits,” city manager Toby Cotter said late last month. Bishop recall underway

MOHAVE COUNTY – Dist. 4 Mohave County Sup. Jean Bishop earned a new four-year term Nov. 3, but a Golden Valley businessman hopes to oust her from office next spring. Four counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and a sexual conduct with a minor charge are dismissed in the proposed deal. Deputy Mohave County Attorney Leah Nelson said Ziede inappropriately touched the three and five-year-old…

Off-highway Vehicle Recreation The Consumer Federation of America reports that most OHV fatalities occur in July, with the highest number of fatalities occurring on Independence Day. There are many actions operators of OHVs — like all-terrain vehicles, dirt bikes and side-by-sides — can take to ride safely and help ensure the safety of those around them:…

‘Hands Off’ campaign effect unclear

MOHAVE COUNTY – It’s not clear if Mohave County got the political message delivered by an arts-oriented Phoenix based group that says it advocates for various causes and people of color. The Fuerta Arts Movement has ended its brief campaign indicating opposition to hand counting election ballots in northwest Arizona. The Board of Supervisors twice considered, and twice rejected dumping equipment in favor of hand counting election ballots in Mohave County. Executive Director Xenia Orona said the Fuerta Arts Movement believes hand counting ballots would be problematic while machine counting has provided fair and secure elections in Arizona for 20…
