Youth Exchange Chair speaks at Rotary

Speaking at Kingman Route 66 Rotary Club’s September 8 meeting was Machel Considine, Rotary District 5495 Youth Exchange InBound Chair. The Rotary In-Bound Youth Exchange Program has been active since 1975. Each year students, ages 15 to18.5  come to the United States from another country and live with Rotary host families while going to school. KINGMAN – Finding a new police chief will be Ron Foggins’ first major personnel task during his tenure as Kingman City Manager. Kingman Police Department Chief Bob Devries will end a 40-year law enforcement career when he retires early next May. Murder-suicide traffic stop

KINGMAN – State police said a local resident committed a murder-suicide following a Sunday traffic stop in Kingman. The Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) said the older model pickup truck was pulled over at 1:49 p.m. A news release said during the course of the traffic stop the trooper learned the driver and passenger had felony warrants with nationwide extradition pending for illegal drugs out of Colorado. “When the trooper returned to the pickup, the driver displayed a handgun and shot the female passenger,” the release said. “As a result of the driver’s actions, the trooper drew and fired…

(AP) — The seven U.S. states that draw water from the Colorado River basin are suggesting new ways to determine how the increasingly scarce resource is divvied up when the river can’t provide what it historically promised. The Upper Basin and the Lower Basin states, as neighbors, don’t agree on the approach. KINGMAN – Kathryn Heidenreich Adult Center (KHAC) will host its monthly movie night on Friday, July 31 beginning at 6 p.m. The featured movie is Ninotchka, an American romantic comedy featuring Greta Garbo, Melvyn Douglas, and Ina Clair. Application deadline Oct. 31 for $380,000 in grants The Arizona Game and Fish Department is accepting applications for $380,000 in Heritage Fund grants through 5 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 31.  Grant funding will be available through a competitive application process in the following categories: schoolyard habitat, urban wildlife/habitat, public access, and Identification, Inventory, Acquisition, Protection and Management (IIAPM).  In addition to local, county, state, federal and tribal governmental agencies, school districts and public charter schools, the department welcomes non-profit organizations to apply for a Heritage Grant as eligible applicants.
