One of two Kingman fires proves fatal

KINGMAN – Two unrelated fires occurred in Kingman over the weekend, with one fire proving to be fatal. The Kingman Fire Department (KFD) confirms a fatal residential structure fire occurred late Sunday, March 30. Agency public information officer Beth Matthews said crews responded at 11:52 p.m. to the incident in the 1300 block of Franklin Avenue.

Matthews said a male occupant of the home was found deceased at the scene. His name is initially withheld pending notification of kin, and fire cause is under investigation. The KFD plans to issue a news release with more details.

No one was hurt in the other, unrelated house fire in Kingman that also occurred over the weekend. Fire department crews responded at 5:43 p.m. on Saturday, March 29 to the incident at 2837 Diamond Spur Street.

“Upon arrival, fire personnel observed visible smoke and, after further investigation, identified a working fire in the attic of the residence,” a fire department news release said. “It was determined that the fire originated outside and traveled up an exterior pillar to the attic.”

Officials said the fire was contained to the attic space and that its cause is under investigation.
