OIS investigation continues

The Kingman Police Department is continuing the investigation into an officer-involved shooting (OIS) that occurred in Dolan Springs on Sunday, March 7. The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Deputy involved is Deputy Kyle Bridgman, a five-year officer.  The investigation revealed that Deputy Bridgman gave multiple commands to Davie Kuihana Ahuna who was resisting arrest and struck the deputy multiple times in the head and face with his fists and blunt objects. Deputy Bridgman fired one shot striking Ahuna. Deputy Bridgman continued to hold Ahuna at gun point while waiting for other deputies to arrive. Ahuna ignored Bridgman’s commands and his attempts to render aid. Other deputies arrived and Ahuna continued to be non-compliant and resist; less lethal means were subsequently deployed and Ahuna was taken into custody.

The shooting incident was recorded on an Axon body-worn camera. The Kingman Police Department is releasing the body-worn camera footage from the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office deputy-involved shooting which occurred March 7 in Dolan Springs. The investigation remains on-going pending a review by the Mohave County Attorney’s Office. No further details will be released at this time.
