October brings two-day music festival

LAKE HAVASU CITY – In celebration of London Bridge Days, Lake Havasu will be celebrating with a two-day music festival. This year marks the 52nd anniversary of this historical event.  In case you’re wondering why the London Bridge is so important, construction of the bridge was built in the 1830s.

The bridge ranged to the River Thames in London, England.  By 1968, the bridge was bought by entrepreneur Robert P. McCulloch.

McCulloch planned the community of Lake Havasu in 1964.  McCulloch had outer granite blocks that originated from the bridge.  The  granite blocks were brought to the U.S. to create a new bridge in Lake Havasu.

The bridge we see now in Arizona, is reinforced concrete.  The structured clad is in the initial brickwork of the 1830s bridge.

The bridge was completed in October of 1971. This year, the London Bridge Music Festival is being brought to the town by event coordinator Kennie Cuppetelli of Rockabilly Productions and London Bridge Days.

This last February, Cuppetelli paid homage to some of the greatest musicians of the past such as Buddy Holly and Jerry Lee Lewis at Lake Havasu’s Rockabilly Reunion.  It was a gala that was a combination of a car show, music festival, and fun family activities.

This two-day event would not be complete without giving back to international, local, and nearby charities.  This year proceeds will go to multiple organizations such as Soldiers for Jesus Ministry which is an international charity that is a non-profit Christian motorcycle group.

Donations will also be going to Milemarkers of Lake Havasu who provides services to adults and children with disabilities. The London Bridge Days Music Festival will also be donating to Choc, a children’s hospital located in Santa Ana, CA along with several other charitable organizations.

Bring your own chair and come out and enjoy entertaining classic rock tribute bands. The festival will bring performances from Journey USA, Pyromania, and many more.

Food court, vendors, and a full bar will be available as well. The Lake Havasu London Bridge Music Festival will be on Friday, October 20 and Saturday, October 21.

Doors open at 3 p.m. and musical acts will start at 4:30 p.m.  The celebrations will be at Lake Havasu State Park Windsor 4.
