No deadline to apply for utilities assistance program

BULLHEAD CITY – The City of Bullhead City is clarifying that there is no deadline to apply for the Utilities Assistance and Discount Program (UADP).

Recently, utilities customers received a letter encouraging them to apply for the program before February 1. The letter was originally scheduled for mailing in December; however, distribution was delayed due to unforeseen circumstances experienced by a third-party mailing vendor. As a result, certain customers received the letter after February 1, leading to confusion regarding program eligibility timelines and assumption that the program had closed.

The UADP remains open year-round, and eligible customers may apply at any time.

The UADP provides qualifying residents with up to $20 off their monthly utility bills. Customers may receive $10 per qualifying category — low-income households, disabled veterans, or active-duty military members — up to a maximum discount of $20 per month.

Customers who submit their applications before the end of February will receive the February discount, along with their March discount, on their March statement. Applications submitted after February will receive the discount on the next billing cycle.

“We acknowledge the confusion caused by the delayed mailing,” said Bullhead City Public Information Officer Mackenzie Covert. “The program remains open, and we encourage anyone who may qualify to contact us.”

Customers who may qualify should call Bullhead City Utilities Customer Service at 928-763-0166 to request an application and submit proof of eligibility.

The City of Bullhead City remains committed to ensuring essential utility services are accessible and affordable for residents who need additional support.
