No-cost calls for jail inmates

KINGMAN- Effective today, April 2, Inmates in the Mohave County Adult Detention Facility will be able to make two ten-minute phone calls each week at no charge. The Sheriff’s Office is suspending video visitation from friends and relatives to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Captain Don Bischoff said that in collaboration with its inmate telephone provider, ICSolutions, inmates who may have relied solely on video visits to stay in touch with friends and family will be able to continue to stay connected with those outside the facility.

No timeline has been set as to how long these no cost calls will continue, but will likely remain in effect until the new video visitation system, which allows remote visits, is installed and operational.

Chief Deputy Dean McKie stated, “It is extremely important to us that the incarcerated individuals at the Mohave County Adult Detention Facility stay connected with their loved ones to make sure they are safe. Although we ultimately decided it was in the best interest to suspend visitation, we believe it is vital to keep them connected during this international time of crisis.”

There are no costs to the inmates or the called parties, who, will still have the option of accepting or refusing a call. Family and friends from outside the facility also have the ability to leave a short voice message for an inmate as well. More information can be found on the ICSolutions website www.icsolutions.
