LAKE HAVASU CITY – The Lake Havasu City Council held last week included Lake Havasu City Manager Jess Knudson announcing the retirement†of Plans Examiner Carl Criswell.
Criswell was with the city for five years and enforced billing codes. Knudson also shared the Elk’s Lodge Law and Order night event that happened on Saturday September 23. Corporal Brent Skancke was awarded Office of the Year.
Detective†Richard Castillo was also recognized for his service with the Elks Lodge. Elks Lodge also presented a $500 check for the city’s cadet program.†
The fire department awarded Public Education Specialist Gina Gutierrez at Law and Order Night. †Gutierrez was awarded an outstanding leadership award along with Chief of Battalion and EMS Coordinator Tim Maple.† Knudson provided information about The Lake Havasu Fire Department’s Sarah Park Trails task.†
The fire department put clearly marked signage up for hikers making the trails much safer.† Knudson presented information about the mayor’s office recognizing charitable groups the prior weekend.†
Mayor Sheehy presented a proclamation the Havasu Community Health Foundation’s You Matter group in honor of Suicide Prevention Month.† A recognition certificate by Mayor Sheehy given to The Patriot Guard Riders at the VFW for the safe return home to United States and National Guard Specialist Dylan T.
It was also announced that Mayor Sheehy gave a certificate to the† Literacy Council and attended the Gold Star Mother’s Day Ceremony for mothers who lost a child that served in the armed†forces.†
Then it was†on to the public hearings portion of the meeting where board members approved a resolution to†adopt a five year and wastewater†rates that will increase water and sewer rates.††
These rates and fees will be effective on November 1. An agreement award for professional services was given to Michael Baker of International Inc. Shared by City Engineer Greg Froslie, the award is intended for a feasibility study for the second island†bridge† evacuation†route.†
The agreement is not to exceed $200,000.† The Department of Transportation† accepted funding for the construction of an emergency†evacuation bridge.††
Froslie also addressed that funds are secured in the state budget in the amount of 35 million 500,000 designated for the construction of the bridge.† The motion for the construction†of an emergency evacuation bridge was passed by board members.††
In conclusion of the†meeting, board members† renewed the cooperative†purchase of one pierce velocity fire engine from Hughes Fire Equipment Inc through November 30.† Presented by Patrick Cipres of Transit Operations, board members also renewed another term for a cooperative purchase of BraunABility Promaster ADA low floor van and Ford E Transit ADA van from Creative Bus Sales through April 30, 2024.††
