Birds cause outage in MEC western service area

BULLHEAD CITY  – On Tuesday, October 3 at 2:48 p.m., a swarm of birds flew into Mohave Electric Cooperative’s (MEC) substation area in Willow Valley. A few birds made contact with electric equipment causing an outage for 2,776 MEC members. This outage affected members across Willow and Mohave Valley, as well as the southern Fort Mohave. MEC crews responded, replaced the damaged equipment, and restored power to the majority of members at 4:14 p.m. After further repairs, the remaining 46 members were restored at 5:49 p.m.

Outage restoration is important to Mohave Electric Cooperative. Please remember, there are many ways to report an outage. You can call our toll-free line at 1-844-632-2667, text “outage” to 55050 from a number linked to your MEC account or use our SmartHub® application on your mobile device to report the outage.
