New leadership, project advancement discussed at Water Sustainability Task Force meeting

KINGMAN – At the Dec 4 meeting of the City of Kingman Water Sustainability Task Force, a new chairman and vice-chairman were voted on and elected. These changes will go into effect January 2020. The future Chairman is Rob Owen, Public Works Director for the City of Kingman. The future Vice Chairman is Katherine Fish, Floodplains Program Manager.

The meeting then proceeded to the discussion of sustainability topics and city and county projects. There was the discussion about the development of a high-water usage policy, and if developed, whether that policy could have a set cap or be based on cost benefit analysis on long term commercial users. Water conservation methods, and the feasibility of a Kingman Lake were discussed. All of these projects are still under development or in a theoretical phase, as such there were no motions or decisions concluded at this meeting. The Water Sustainability meeting focuses on the usage, maintenance, and conservation of Mohave County’s water supply. Though not a governing body, the task force does make recommendations to Mohave County. The next meeting will take place on Feb 5, 2020, at Mohave County Development Services.
