NEEDLES — The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office (SBCSO) has identified a suspect who is wanted for killing a man and wounding three other people on July 23 in Needles. Xavier Scott is wanted for murder and three attempted murder charges for the 6:40 a.m. shooting in the 1900 block of Erin Drive.

“Deputies arrived and found four people suffering from gunshot wounds,” a SBCSO news release said. Fire department personnel declared William Garhartt, 52, dead at the scene.

Three other Needles residents, a 23-year-old man and 21 and 22-year-old females, were transported to hospitals for treatment.

Anyone with information about this case or Scott’s whereabouts is asked to contact detective Charles Lopez at 909-890-4904 or the anonymous 800-78CRIME tip line.
