KINGMAN – A Kingman woman witnessed her son shoot and fatally wound her husband before taking his own life Saturday, March 1. Police responded at about 10:30 p.m. to the family home in the 2000 block of Gene Autry Drive.
Deputy police chief Joel Freed says arriving officers found Vernon Vanotti, 75, and his son Robert Vanotti, 31, both dead inside the home. “Investigators learned that Vernon and Jake had been arguing for several days, but the altercations never became physical,” Freed said. “Officers also learned that Vernon was inside of a bedroom of the residence when Jake entered the room unprovoked and shot Vernon several times before turning the gun on himself.”
Freed said neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be factors in the continuing investigation.
