Morning Glories raising funds

Dear Editor,

The Morning Glories held a successful yard sale in front of Annie’s Attic Saturday, October 24. Annie’s Attic supported our club through the month of October by selling raffle tickets. Gifts were donated to the Morning Glories for this raffle by local businesses and individuals. Thank you to: Smith’s, True Value, Lin’s Little China, The Detail Shop, Mary’s Custom Sweaters, and Leta with BHG Wellness. Annie’s Attic supplied the space, tables, and set up and break down expertise. In addition, they have given the Morning Glories a monetary donation toward our scholarship fund.

The Morning Glories is a non-profit organization in Kingman under the “Community & Family Interest Clubs” (CFIC) of Mohave County. It was chartered in 1961. The Meadview Quails is the second CFIC club in Mojave County. The two clubs combine their fundraising endeavors to award local seniors’ scholarships of $1,000 each. Last spring, we reached a record of 17 scholarships given to deserving graduates.

The Morning Glories Club meets each third Thursday morning of the month (September – May). Our program includes a speaker from the community and an activity that will benefit our scholarship program and/or a local charity. Our mission is “to strengthen families through programs of community leadership and continuing education; to empower citizens to actively participate in public decision-making on issues that concern children, families and home life; and to promote the effectiveness of volunteer action and support.”

We are having many other fundraising activities throughout the year. Tickets for a raffle of a “Civil War Officers’ Chair and footstool”, reproduced by a local craftsman, are available with the drawing March 18. Online orders for RADA Cutlery bring credit to the Morning Glories with the use of our online ordering code. We will be holding an English Tea, a Wine Bottle and Basket auction, and, in April 2021, a CFIC Luncheon celebrating 60 years of serving our community of Kingman as the Morning Glories.
