KINGMAN — Mohave Pride held its annual pride festival in Metcalfe Park on Saturday, May 30, which featured vendors, activities, and performances. This family friendly event was followed in the evening by an adult themed after-party at Black Bridge Brewery, which featured a drag show.
Attendance for the Mohave Pride event was down considerably from previous years, which has seen as many as 1,500 people in the past. Fewer vendors were involved this year and it was only a one-day event.
“It really should have been a two-day event,” said Carol Campbell, the District 1 Chair of the Mohave County Democratic Party. The Democratic Party was also holding a picnic at Centennial Park on the same day as the Mohave Pride event.
Mohave Pride recently came under new leadership because the terms of the prior board members expired. President and CEO of Mohave Pride Nate Lague helped bring this event across the finish line. Lague is from Holbrook, Arizona, and now lives in Phoenix, but believe it is important for organizations like Mohave Pride to continue.

“The most important thing we wanted to do this year was to exist,” he said. Lague says that many pro-LGBT organizations have been disappearing, but it was important to him that Mohave Pride continue serving the community in Mohave County.
Mohave Pride is supported by the And Then Initiative, a nonprofit that contributes to events and organizations throughout the year. For the month of June, local dispensary Medusa Farms is donating a percentage of the sales of its house blends to Mohave Pride.
