Mohave College narrows search for new president after strong application pool

MOHAVE COUNTY — Mohave College appears to be executing a well-detailed recruitment campaign for its next President, following last summer’s exit by former President Stacy Klippenstein to the College of Southern Nevada. An undisclosed number of applications for the Mohave College Presidency were submitted before the Jan. 13 target deadline.

Addressing colleagues at the Jan. 16 governing board meeting, member Ashley Pascual said that recruitment has been going well, attracting a “strong and varied pool of candidates.”

Pascual said search committee members will be reviewing the application materials through a confidential online portal before 7-9 semifinalists are to be selected during a Jan. 30 meeting. She said an initial round of interviews will aim to narrow the field to a handful of finalists in late Feb.

“The plan is for the final candidates to be visiting our Mohave College campuses the week of March 23,” Pascual said, with introductions to stakeholders and others.

“That’ll be the opportunity for the public to engage the candidates as well,” she said. “When we have the finalists come to the campus visits and interview with us there will be an online survey available. That will be the way that anyone can provide their input on the candidates.”

Pascual said the Board will review the public surveys as part of their deliberative process. She said a selection decision is expected in early April with the new President joining the college near July 1.
