MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave College men’s and women’s soccer teams both competed on the road this week, and both teams split in the results.
Men’s Soccer
The Mohave College Men’s Soccer team split a pair of road matches, earning a 2-1 win over College of Southern Nevada Sept. 19 before falling 3-1 to Long Beach City College Sept. 22.
Mohave traveled to North Las Vegas to face College of Southern Nevada at Cheyenne Sports Complex, where the Bighorns secured a 2-1 victory. Mohave entered halftime with a 1-0 lead before scoring late in the second half to earn the win.
Alan Salgado, forward, put Mohave on the board in the fifth minute with an assist from Luigi Ankrom, forward. College of Southern Nevada tied the match in the 59th minute before Mohave responded late.
Luis Garcia, midfielder, scored the game-winning goal in the 85th minute with assists from Abdullahi Daud, defender and defender, Cy Adams.
Mohave finished the match with 22 shots, including 10 on goal, compared with 10 shots and four on goal for College of Southern Nevada. The Bighorns also recorded seven corner kicks. Owen Williams, goalkeeper, played all 90 minutes and recorded three saves.
The Bighorns continued their road schedule Sept. 22, facing Long Beach City College in California, where Mohave fell 3-1.
Women’s Soccer
The Mohave College Women’s Soccer team split a pair of road matches, earning a 1-0 win over College of Southern Nevada Sept. 19 before falling 5-0 to Long Beach City College Sept. 22.
Mohave traveled to North Las Vegas to face College of Southern Nevada at Cheyenne Sports Complex, where the Bighorns earned a 1-0 victory.
Courtney Howard, forward, scored the game’s only goal in the 17th minute with an assist from Alayna Littlewood, midfielder, giving Mohave a 1-0 advantage that held through the remainder of the match.
Jacky Claro, goalkeeper, played all 90 minutes and recorded five saves to keep College of Southern Nevada off the scoreboard.
Mohave recorded six shots, including two on goal, while College of Southern Nevada finished with 14 shots and five on goal. The Bighorns also recorded two corner kicks.
The Bighorns continued their road schedule Sept. 22, facing Long Beach City College in California, where Mohave fell 5-0.
