MOHAVE COUNTY – The Mohave College Foundation has elected three new members to its board of directors and selected a new board chair following its February meeting. These changes further strengthen the Foundation’s commitment to supporting Mohave College student success across Mohave County.
The Foundation welcomes Dr. Laura Dohner, Derrick Voss and Ted Knisely as its newest board members.
Dr. Dohner brings extensive experience in higher education, literacy initiatives, curriculum development and international education. She has served in executive leadership roles for nonprofit organizations and currently serves as president of the Kingman Rotary Club. Her work reflects a strong commitment to education and community service.
Voss is a longtime Mohave County resident and commercial lending professional with more than two decades of experience supporting local businesses and nonprofit organizations throughout the region. He currently serves as treasurer of the Kiwanis Club of the Colorado River and brings valuable financial expertise and regional insight to the Foundation.
Knisely is a construction industry professional with more than 35 years of experience and currently serves as Mohave County business lead for Concord General Contracting. He began his career in a family-owned general contracting business in Pennsylvania and later owned his own concrete business. After relocating to Arizona, he built a long-standing career with Concord, advancing through multiple leadership roles, including assistant superintendent, superintendent, senior superintendent, safety lead, general superintendent and leadership team member. Knisely is passionate about supporting community growth and strengthening local workforce development.
The Foundation also recognizes new board members Dave La Barre and George Simon, who were elected in January and bring additional expertise to the board.
La Barre is a seasoned entrepreneur and community connector with decades of experience in business development, civic engagement and educational philanthropy. He previously served as president of the Contra Costa College Foundation board.
Simon is an IT professional and telecommunications entrepreneur with more than 20 years of experience expanding technology access and broadband connectivity in rural communities. He is passionate about workforce development and creating pathways for students interested in technology and innovation.
In addition, the Foundation announced the election of Bob Arp as chair of the Mohave College Foundation Board of Directors. Arp succeeds Ellen Brown, who recently resigned after several years of service on the board. He brings a strong background in higher education advancement and nonprofit leadership and has been a dedicated supporter of the Foundation’s mission.
“As the Foundation continues to grow, strong leadership helps ensure we meet the evolving needs of our students and communities,” Arp said. “I look forward to working with our new members and the continued impact of the Foundation.”
