MOHAVE COUNTY — The Labor Day Holiday Weekend on the waterways throughout Mohave County saw a significant increase in boating and recreational traffic.

Throughout the weekend, Deputies issued 25 boating citations, responded to 3 non-injury boat crashes, 3 boat crashes with injury, assisted 23 boaters, and performed 6 water rescues. Deputies arrested two suspects for Operating Under the Influence and one suspect for Aggravated Operating Under the Influence with Children under 15 years old on board. Deputies also responded to 3 medical calls on the water with on board River Medical Paramedics.

Another incident occurred when an Advantage Party Cat boat caught fire near Copper Canyon. All subjects on board were able to escape without injury. The involved boat was a total loss.

Also during the weekend, a male subject riding a personal watercraft in the area of Body Beach was found motionless face down in the water by beach goers. The unconscious male was pulled from the water quickly, and Deputies and Medics arrived on scene and began treating the victim. The victim was transported to a local hospital in stable condition. During this case, it appears that the rider suffered a medical event which caused him to lose consciousness and fall into the water.
