Mary Ellen White (Elmer): A Life Remembered

Early Life and Family

Mary Ellen White (Elmer) was born on February 17, 1950, in Trenton, New Jersey, to Joseph and Mary Elmer. After a courageous battle with respiratory disease, Mary passed away on March 23, 2026, at KRMC at the age of 76, joining her Heavenly Father and the love of her life, Newton.

Marriage and Family Life

On September 1, 1965, Mary married her sweetheart, Newton D. White Sr. Together, they raised four loving children: Donna, Newton Jr, Noland, and Ann Marie, in Trenton, New Jersey. Mary dedicated herself to her family as a homemaker, frequently assisting Newton with their delivery service business. After retiring, they moved to Chloride, Arizona, in 1991, where Mary worked in various roles as a caregiver at Desert Highlands and later for a cleaning service. She officially retired after these experiences. Mary and Newton celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary by renewing their vows at Hilltop Four Square Church in Kingman, Arizona, on September 5, 2015, surrounded by their children, family, and friends, with Pastor Norm Taylor officiating.

Life in Arizona

Mary and Newton relocated to Arizona in 1990, settling in Chloride. Mary spent 31 years in Chloride until her illness required her to move to Kingman, Arizona, in 2024, to be closer to family and medical care. She worked as a waitress at local bars and restaurants, performed in the Chloride Cyanide Springs shootouts, and participated for more than 15 years in the Chillin’ on Beale Street Annual Hallowbash trunk or treat. Mary cherished her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Family and Legacy

Mary is survived by three children: Donna Zullinger (Bob) of North Carolina, Noland White (Catherine) of Kingman, Arizona, and Ann Marie Valenzuela of Kingman, Arizona. She also leaves behind several grandchildren: Douglas Lucero (Samantha) of Martin, SD; Jacob Lucero and Celine Lucero-White, both of Kingman, Arizona; Robert (Bobby) Zullinger (Jeanette) of North Carolina; Barbara Jean Gminder (Mike) of Maine; Shawn White; Samantha White; and five great-grandchildren: Tristan Lucero, Mylisa Lucero, Gavin Zullinger, Jamison White, Rilynn White, as well as her beloved dog Coupe.

Memorial Service

A graveside ceremony will be held at Desert Lawn Memorial Gardens, located at 9250 S Ranchero Ln, Mohave Valley, AZ 86440, at a later date. For those unable to attend, a Facebook page in Mary’s honor will feature a live video of the service. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Newton, her son Newton White Jr, and her parents.
