Man charged for Meadview stabbing death

MEADVIEW – One man is dead and another is in custody for a homicide in the north Mohave County community of Meadview. Deputies responded July 3 to a report of an aggravated assault at a residence in the 26000 block of N. Driftwood Dr.

“The reporting party indicated that a male subject had been stabbed and the suspect had fled,” said Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Anita Mortensen. “Upon arrival, deputies observed the victim had multiple stab wounds and was pronounced deceased by responding medical staff.”

Mortensen identified the victim as Kodey Sean Wheeler, 36, Meadview. She said investigation identified the suspect as Fred Dodge, 39.

Detectives were able to track Dodge to a Nevada motel where he was taken into custody on Monday, July 7.

Mortensen said Dodge will be extradited back to Arizona to stand trial for second-degree murder. She said Dodge is also wanted for an unrelated homicide in Nevada.
