LAKE HAVASU CITY – The county’s Lake Havasu City library branch will be hosting “Welcome to the Metaverse: Exploring Virtual Reality”, Thursday, February 8, at 3:30 p.m. in the Community Room B. This free program is open to teens aged 13-18 years. Funding for it and equipment was made possible by a State Grant-In-Aid (SGIA) through the Arizona State Library.
What is Virtual Reality? Virtual reality, or VR, is a computer-generated simulation of three-dimensional images or 360-degree environments in which users can interact, and includes spherical or 360-degree video that captures an entire scene in which the viewer can look up, down, and around. Virtual Reality opens up a world of interesting possibilities. It is used not only for gaming or entertainment, but also for educational modules, immersive storytelling and interactive content experiences. Mohave County Library District is proud to be able to present this free program for local teens.
Parents and friends are welcome to attend and observe the event. In addition to offering instruction and adjustments of VR equipment, library staff will be on hand to guide participants and give a brief program introduction and safety overview of the equipment.
Space for this event is limited. Pre-registration is required for this event, and parents or legal guardians must sign a liability release waiver at the time of registration. Patrons 18 years of age may sign their own waiver.
