Lamorie pleads guilty to DV charge

LAKE HAVASU CITY – A Lake Havasu City teenager involved in a violent, alcohol-fueled altercation with her fiance pleaded guilty Tuesday to an aggravated assault by domestic violence charge. Prosecutor Jefferson Pyper said Alexis Lamorie was 18 years-old when she and her girlfriend went out drinking before an argument escalated at the 25-year-old victim’s residence at 2840 Appletree Drive.

Lake Havasu City police said Lamorie threatened the woman with a knife during the ensuing altercation. Prosecutor Jefferson Pyper told the Court that Lamorie strangled the victim for 30-second intervals on four occasions during the struggle.

Defense attorney Melissa Barry denied the choking allegation but said her client’s position in physical control of the victim while restricting her movement justified the assault conviction.

Lamorie faces no additional jail time when placed on supervised probation during a February 18 sentencing hearing. The assault conviction would be designated a misdemeanor if she successfully completes probation.

Lamorie is the sister of Andrew Lamorie, a 23-year old Lake Havasu City man facing a highly publicized prosecution for first degree murder in the death of his two year-old daughter. A Medical Examiner determined that Gabriella Lamorie’s death two years ago was the combination of injuries and starvation.
