Kingman solid waste rates increasing

KINGMAN  – The Kingman City Council voted to increase the solid waste rates during the April 20, Kingman City Council Meeting. Residential monthly charges for a single-family home, with two solid waste pickups weekly, are increasing from $19.78 to $20.37. Commercial service rates will increase based on the container size and frequency of pickup; rate information can be viewed on the city’s website: https://www.cityofkingman.gov/government/departments/finance/utility-billing/sanitation-fees. Extra trash hauls for residential customers will increase from $15.00 to $25.75 per load, and extra trash hauls for commercial customers will discontinue.

The study concluded that adjustments of the solid waste rates and fees are essential to the financial well-being of city operations, and the City Council determined amendments to the city’s sanitation regulations are necessary to ensure the system generates sufficient revenues to meet its obligations regarding operating expenses, vehicle replacement program, and operating reserve and ensure the fair and equitable recovery of costs throughout the solid waste system.

The Kingman City Council adopted a notice of intent to adjust solid waste rates and fees on February 16, and also held a public meeting on April 20, 2021, regarding the proposed sanitation utility rate and fee adjustments.
