Kingman man gets more than forty-year prison term in child sex crime case

Interior of courtroom

KINGMAN — An over the top child sex crimes case is resolved through a plea agreement that will result in a near four-decade prison term for a Kingman man. Scott Dickinson, 44, pleaded guilty on Tuesday, October 28 to sexual conduct with a minor, sexual exploitation of a minor and two counts reduced to attempted sexual exploitation of a minor.

While the parade of child pornography cases working their way through the Mohave County Law and Justice Center typically involve defendants who secure child sex abuse material through the internet, Dickinson admitted actually victimizing two young children in his home at 5791 East Siesta Road.

Dickinson apparently flew under the radar of local law enforcement until the Metropolitan Police Services (MPS) arrested Tim Basford of London in Great Britain in February. The child porn material found in his phone included an image of the genitalia of a 10 to 11-year-old boy that investigators determined was taken inside Dickinson‘s home.

The Probable Cause (PC) statement in the case indicated that Dickinson and Basford had openly communicated about molesting children in message exchanges. The PC said that Dickinson‘s home computer contained about 100 videos of child sexual abuse, about 94 of them featuring the same six-year-old girl being violated in Dickinson‘s Kingman home.

Dickinson reportedly admitted making the videos that range from 20 seconds to 24 minutes in length.

Terms of the plea deal accepted by the Honorable Lee Jantzen require the Mohave County Superior Court judge to impose a 37-year prison term, followed by lifetime probation at a December 12 sentencing hearing.
