KINGMAN, Ariz. – No one was struck or injured when a Kingman man allegedly fired at least 17 rounds from a handgun at two local residences on Monday, Aug. 17. Deputy Police Chief Joel Freed said it is believed that the house gunfire was a byproduct of a disturbance that first occurred at a business in the Hualapai Mountains.
Officers responded to the 3700 block of Miller Street at 8:05 p.m. after dispatch received multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting shots fired there.
“Officers learned that approximately seven shots had been fired and that the suspect [Dylan Swint, 37] had left the area in a dark-colored sport utility vehicle,” Freed said. He said at least one shot pierced a living room window and that other bullets struck in the vicinity of the front door of the home.
“While officers were investigating the Miller Street incident, additional shots were heard in the area,” Freed said. He said officers responding to a nearby home in the 3700 block of North Kenneth Road where they located the suspect vehicle.
Ten spent shell casings were found in the roadway, according to Freed said. He said the second home had bullets strike the residence and two vehicles parked in the driveway.
Police reportedly found a firearm in Swint’s vehicle after a traffic stop was conducted. Freed said Swint was highly intoxicated and possibly under the influence of an unknown drug.
Swint was initially jailed for five counts of disorderly conduct involving a firearm and five counts of discharging a firearm at an occupied structure. The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the initial incident at the Hualapai Mountain Lodge.
Additional charges may be filed as investigation continues.
