Kingman highlights Workforce Training Partnership with MCC, Arizona@Work

KINGMAN – The City of Kingman has highlighted its ongoing partnership with Mohave Community College, Phoenix Truck Driving School, and Arizona@Work, which continues to strengthen workforce development by providing valuable training and certification opportunities for employees in high-demand fields such as transportation and logistics.

Through this partnership, current Public Works employees have the opportunity to pursue their Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) which helps them expand their skillsets and support long-term career growth. Since January 2023, five City employees have earned their CDLs through the program, with three receiving financial support from Arizona@Work. An additional five employees are currently enrolled, three of whom are receiving the same support.

“This program is a vital tool in both retaining qualified employees and bringing in new talent who are eager to grow their careers,” said Human Resources Director Krista Toschlog. “By partnering with Mohave Community College, Phoenix Truck Driving School, and Arizona@Work, we’re able to invest in our team, offer meaningful advancement opportunities, and build a strong foundation for public service excellence.”

The impact of this collaboration extends beyond city departments. In 2024, 135 students graduated from the Phoenix Truck Driving School in Kingman. Arizona@Work provided funding for 59 of those students, and over 93% of graduates secured employment which resulted in an estimated $3 million in new wages across Mohave County in their first year alone.

Through targeted investment in people, programs like this are helping to grow both the local economy and the pipeline of skilled professionals that communities like Kingman rely on.
