Kingman man charged with sexual exploitation

A Kingman man was arrested Monday for alleged sex offenses involving a 16-year-old girl in Arkansas. The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office said David Joseph Cruz, 40, had a long distance, year-long communication involvement with the girl he met through social media.

“During their relationship, Cruz requested and received nude photos and videos of the victim,” said sheriff’s office spokeswoman Anita Mortensen. “Cruz communicated with the victim through video chat, phone calls and text messages.”

Cruz reportedly admitted his involvement when interviewed by detectives. Electronic devices seized at Cruz’ residence will undergo forensic analysis in an effort to gather further evidence.

Cruz was booked into the Mohave County Adult Detention Facility for sexual exploitation of a minor and four counts of attempted sexual exploitation of a minor.
