Kindergarten registration for Bullhead schools is March 26, 27

BULLHEAD CITY –Three Bullhead City School District (BCSD) grade schools will enroll and register new kindergarten students over two days this month for the fall semester. The annual Kindergarten Registration is for new students who will turn five years old on or before August 31 this year.

Kindergarten Registration will be held at Desert Valley, Diamondback and Sunrise Elementary Schools on March 26 and 27 from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm. Each campus individualizes its Kindergarten Registration program. Students will be screened to determine the best classroom placement for them.

“Parents and guardians should bring a child’s birth certificate, immunization records, proof of residency within the district (such as current utility bills), parent or guardian ID and any applicable legal paperwork,” said Jennifer Lott, BCSD’s director of educational services. “Besides the paperwork for parents, the three schools make the evening fun and engaging for our new kindergartners.”

The Bullhead City chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star prepares special “goodie bags” for each new kindergarten registrant.

Lott added that it is important for families to start the school registration process early and not wait until the last minute. It is also an opportunity for parents to find out what a child should know before starting kindergarten, and what school changes have occurred since older children in a family may have gone through previous registrations for kindergarten.

“People often ask about the August 31 birthday cutoff,” she added. “That deadline is set by the State of Arizona, not individual school districts.”

As previously announced, the fall semester for the 2024-2025 BCSD school year starts July 29 for students in grades Pre-K through eight, following a two-month summer break.

Additional information about Kindergarten Registration is available at each of the three Bullhead City elementary campuses, or at the District office, 928-758-3961. Updates will be posted on the District’s Facebook page, @bcsd15 / https://www.facebook.com/BCSD15/ . A full list of approved proof of residency documentation is available at the District office.
