LAKE HAVASU CITY — A Lake Havasu City woman who nearly completed Adult Recovery Court has instead had her probation revoked and is heading to prison. Michelle Moser, 59, was placed on probation in June, 2003 after pleading guilty to possessing for sale more than 200 grams of methamphetamine.
Moser said Recovery Court helped her kick her substance addiction, but that she abused alcohol in place of drugs. Her enrollment was terminated when she was unable to complete the Recovery Court Program.
“I am my own worst enemy,” Moser told Judge Billy Sipe, asking to be reinstated during a Sept. 3 probation violation hearing. “I know I have been given many chances, and I’m asking for just one more.”
Sipe said it was a shame that Moser was so close to completion when she flunked the program. “You were pretty much on the doorstep of graduation,” he said.
Sipe said Recovery Court is the final shot most defendants get on probation, and that those who don’t graduate are seldom reinstated. Sipe sent Moser to the Arizona Department of Corrections for 4 years.
