Judge rejects probation plea for Bullhead man guilty of child sexual abuse

BULLHEAD CITY — A local judge imposed a 12-year prison sentence Friday after rejecting a probation plea offered on behalf of a Bullhead City man who engaged in sexual activity with his friend’s 7-year-old daughter almost three years ago. Mohave County Superior Court judge Derek Carlisle also ordered that Bradley Anderson, 55, shall serve lifetime probation upon his release from custody.

Anderson pleaded guilty to two counts reduced to attempted sexual conduct with a minor for illegal sexual activity that occurred between November 17-20, 2022 at the victim’s home in the 700 block of Church Street. Anderson was living at the residence, was considered to be an Uncle figure to the victim and took advantage of her while her dad was at work.

The defendant declined when offered opportunity to address the Court during the sentencing hearing. Defense attorney Paul Amann described Anderson as an alcoholic and drug addict who suffered a challenging childhood.

Family members of the victim branded Anderson a monster who betrayed his position of trust to leave the now 10-year-old girl scarred for life. “She was 7-years old at the time and she continues to have nightmares,” her father said.

Her mother said the victim is engaged in counseling and uses medicine to treat anxiety and mental health issues. She told judge Carlisle that she dropped her daughter off at her dad’s place and picked up a broken child three days later.
