Husband charged with aggravated assault

LITTLEFIELD – Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Deputies arrested Anthony Charles Pope, 36 of Cedar City, UT, for two counts of felony Aggravated Assault per Domestic Violence and misdemeanor Failure to Comply with a Court Order.

On the evening of Tuesday, April 7, deputies were flagged down by a citizen who advised they had picked up a female on Highway 389 near milepost 24 and dropped her off at a nearby business per her request. The citizen advised the woman was badly bruised and injured and claimed her husband had assaulted her.

Deputies responded to the business and made contact with the victim. They observed that she had severe bruising to the entire right side of her face and arms, and the female stated she thought her collarbone was broken. The woman advised that she and her husband, identified as Pope, lived in a motorhome and Pope had been extremely violent in the previous days, punching her in the face with a closed fist several times.

The following day an Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) trooper made contact with and detained Pope. When asked, Pope advised that the victim received the injuries when he attempted to defend himself.
