Human remains discovered in remote area

An archeologist conducting work in a remote area located human remains outside the western Arizona community of Topock Wednesday. Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies responded at 10:50 a.m. to a location near Polaris Road.

Sheriff’s spokesman Anita Mortensen said the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s office collected the bone fragments for forensic analysis and possible DNA testing. “Detectives canvassed the area to search for possible evidence,” she said.

No further information is initially available and investigation is ongoing.
