Hospice to host a Planning for the Future event

LAKE HAVASU CITY – Hospice of Havasu will be hosting a Planning for the Future event for individuals interested in information on how to provide care and safety for their aging family members. Hospice of Havasu is a compassionate nonprofit that has available resources for those needing care.

Their Transitions Programs give assistance to people living with serious illnesses. They also provide support for caregivers to encourage them on ways to care for themselves while providing care to others.

Hospice of Havasu’s Alzheimer’s and dementia program gives advice to caregivers with clients suffering from these diseases as well as grief support to help those overcome losing clients of loved ones. The focus of the discussion will be about advance care planning, which is an important initiative everyone should be considering regardless of age.

This event will share the importance of informing others of the healthcare preferences needed when incapacitation occurs from an illness or injury. The Planning for your Future event will review the Arizona Advance Directive Packet.

The nonprofit will also cover what to do with advance directives that include physicians’ orders for life sustaining treatment, mental health care power of attorney, do not resuscitate, health care power of attorney, and living wills. Families can also take workbooks home that can help with organizing accounts and documents.

This will be a free to the public event that requires an RSVP by emailing smessmer@hospicehavasu.org. Or by calling Hospice of Havasu directly at 928-453-2111.

The Planning for the Future workshop will be on Thursday, November 14 from 10:30 a.m. to noon at Hospice of Havasu. This will me a very informative event for anyone wanting to secure the wishes of aging family members, as well as avoiding confusion during a challenging time.
