Dear Editor,
I once heard Trump say, “Every man has a price.” And he like many other things he wants to get his foot in the door with big pharma. Because he knows there’s big bucks to be made. Of course. There’s no other way for Trump. The pharma rep who passed out in the Oval Office Trump gifted them the speed up of FDA approvals (jeopardizing the safety of millions) as well as exemption from tariffs while other businesses struggle. Oh yea, Eli Lilly reps are supporters of Trump all the way to the bank. Some may be ok with this but some are not. And when those who aren’t and don’t play Trump’s crooked games but instead stand up to him and call him out he wants them hung, shot or imprisoned whichever comes first.
No different than what he tried to do with Sen. John McCain he now is doing with Sen. Mark Kelly. But this time with physical threats. McCain he verbally tried to destroy his good character and heroism by demeaning him for being a POW. Saying McCain was no war hero that he had no respect for anyone who was captured by the enemy. Coming from a man who dodged the draft because of alleged bone spurs is quite the statement if not an attitude.
And an un-American one at that. Tearing down anyone better than him is his shtick while trying to be a showman while at it. But it isn’t smart or funny or making Trump look powerful. It just shows how petty he is. Anyone who isn’t intimidated by his wise guy attitude and won’t let him push them around or won’t praise him from head to toe Trump will lash out.
And Mark Kelly does just that. He doesn’t back down from Trump nor any bullies. All the more bitter for Trump because Kelly is a war hero with 20 years under his belt serving in the military. A Navy captain with 30-plus war missions as a pilot fighter and a worldwide beloved astronaut that’s gone to space multiple times. Things Trump could never have done. No one in their right mind would try to attack and demean such an honorable man that nearly lost his wife due to a horrific injury when shot in the head by a would-be assassin.
Especially not by a sitting president. But not Trump. His ego and insecurities always get in the way. Instead of being presidential and say, ‘Yes, I agree,’ when Sen. Kelly said our military soldiers take an oath to our constitution not a president (fact check, it’s a fact) and adhere to a code not to commit unlawful acts. Yes follow your president and commander, when lawful. But it was telling in itself when Trump said on social media that the behavior of Sen Kelly was ‘seditious behavior’ that’s ‘punishable by death.’
No different than saying, kill him. Hang him, imprison him. Going so far to try to reactivate his military service so he can try to court martial him for quoting military oaths (?!?) However one sees it, it is not punishable by law. The last I’ve heard it’s still called Freedom of Speech. Sen. Kelly who would know better than Trump the meaning and purpose of the military codes Trump is clueless to all of them.
That he knows more about the military than Sen. Kelly or anyone for that matter falls on its face. And not for nothing but it wasn’t that long ago when he was a harsh critic of Trump Pete Hegseth himself had said the exact same things that he and Trump now want to court martial Sen. Kelly for. Fact check it.
Sen. Kelly and others like him that Trump can’t trust and manipulate and be bought and sold he tries to destroy. Honorable people with a moral compass who have through their honesty and diligent integrity they’ve given themselves to the betterment of others. In ways Donald Trump can and will never understand.
