EDITOR’S NOTE: While we at The Standard do not agree with Mr. Hommel’s opinion, we do believe that all citizens have the right to express themselves in print. To censure Mr. Hommel’s letter to the editor would be in direct opposition to America’s values of freedom of expression.
Dear Editor,
Please allow me to respond to you and my friend Jack Hommel on his column, “Who killed the Democratic Party”.
It was hard to read this rant about Jack’s feelings regarding his victimhood that made him demean and degrade good Americans, especially women of accomplishment, who simply have a different opinion than his.Calling them monkeys and comparing them to Hitler’s party members is going too far. I have always known Jack as a kind and caring person, but this expose of his is unacceptable by any decent standard and The Standard newspaper should be ashamed for allowing it to be printed. I am requesting an apology from The Standard newspaper editor for printing this hate.
It is true both leading political parties have extreme sides to them, that is clearly evident and are expressions that are allowed.
In our civil and educated society we should set good examples for our youth by expressing our opinions with verifiable facts and good science. Not with mongering hate for another’s opinion.
