Havasu shooting deemed accidental

LAKE HAVASU CITY – Lake Havasu City police have concluded an Oct. 7 injury incident was an accidental shooting.

Officers responded at 2:45 p.m. to a report that an individual was shot by two people who fled the scene in the 2300 block of Palisades Drive. Nobody was present when police arrived.

“It was determined that the injured individual had self-transported to Havasu Regional Medical Center, where he was treated for injuries to his left hand,” sergeant Kyle Ridgway said. “Interviews with the victim and witnesses revealed that the incident occurred while the victim was showing friends a firearm, which accidentally discharged.”

Ridgway said it was an accidental, self-inflicted gunshot. He said that there are no suspects in play and there is no community threat.
