Lake Havasu City Parks and Recreation reminds the public of the exciting lineup of summer programs designed for kids of all ages and interests. From swimming lessons and youth camps to creative art classes and beginner golf, Lake Havasu City offers engaging, educational, and affordable activities to help kids stay active and inspired all summer long.
Swimming Lessons
The summer swim program offers sessions for children ages six months to nine years. With certified instructors and classes tailored to skill level, participants build confidence and water safety skills. Each session runs Monday through Thursday over a two-week period. Summer Camps
Youth looking for full-day activities can join Sunshine Camp for grades kindergarten through fourth, or Adventure Academy for fifth through seventh grade. These camps run from June 2 through July 17, operating from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily. Activities include swimming, movies, bowling, crafts, cooking, photography, fitness, and more. Pottery and Crochet Classes
Creative opportunities abound with hands-on classes in pottery and crochet. Pint-sized Pottery Pals welcome ages five through twelve to learn hand-building techniques with clay, while Little Loops and Hook Squad teach kids ages eight through fourteen the basics of crochet. Youth Golf Intro
Beginning the first week of June, young golf enthusiasts can participate in Fairway Friends, an introductory golf class designed for children ages three to eight. The series teaches basic swing techniques using kid-safe equipment and wraps up with a final session at Iron Wolf Golf & Country Club. Kiwanis Summer Craft Series
In partnership with the Kiwanis Club, Parks and Recreation is also offering a free summer craft series at the Aquatic Center. Jr. Lifeguard Program
Teens interested in water safety and leadership can take part in the Junior Lifeguard Program. This training course is designed for ages nine to fifteen and introduces participants to lifeguarding skills, team building, and rescue techniques in a hands-on environment. It’s an excellent stepping-stone for those considering future certification as a lifeguard. The program begins the second week in June and ends mid-July. Open Swim
Families can also take advantage of Open Swim sessions at the Community Aquatic Center during the months of June and July, except on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Open Swim is a great way to cool off, stay active, and enjoy the indoor water features with friends and neighbors.
