Havasu couple face teen sex charges

LAKE HAVASU CITY – A Lake Havasu City man has been arrested for having sex with a teenager and his girlfriend is charged with failing to report the illegal conduct. A Lake Havasu City police department report indicated the case evolved from a separate investigation about providing a marijuana-laced cookie to another teenager.

Friends of the 15-year-old boy contacted authorities when they became concerned that he was “stoned” in January. He told investigators that he was provided the cookie by Javier Gutierrez, 47, and April Holloway, 50.

Investigators contacted an 18-year-old girl in California who previously resided with the boy and the couple. She reported that Gutierrez intimidated her to engage in repeated sexual intercourse in April and May last year.

The teen also indicated that Holloway “walked in” on them when they were having sex, and that Holloway told her to keep her legs closed in the future.

Gutierrez is charged with three counts of sexual conduct with a minor. Holloway is charged with failing to report the neglect of a minor.
